할렐루야! 부활절입니다! 부활하신 예수 그리스도의 은총이 여러분의 삶에 가득하실 축원드립니다.

저는 예수 믿는 것이 참 좋습니다. 예수 믿고 받은 복이 많아서 인 것 같습니다. 무엇보다도 예수 믿고 사는 것이 신나고 감사합니다. 물론 어렵고 힘든 일도 많지만, 그 모든 것이 의미 없는 것이 아니라 하나님의 섭리와 은총 가운데 있음을 깨달을 때 참 사는 맛이 납니다. 그리고 예수 믿고 조금이나마 선한 삶을 살게 되어 참 감사합니다. 아마도 예수 믿지 않았으면 제 성향상 세상을 저주내지는 한탄하며 술에 절어 살다 젊은 나이에 요절했을 겁니다. 아마도 조부모님의 기도가 저를 선한 길로 인도해 주신 것 같다는 믿음에 천국가면 제일 먼저 찾아 뵙고 큰 절을 올리겠다고 늘 생각하며 감사하고 있습니다.

그렇게 지금까지 허락된 삶이 감사하고, 앞으로 약속된 천국이 감사함 가운데 26년도 부활주일을 맞습니다. 이번 부활주일에는 그동안 절기 때마다 불렀던 “Every Praise” 란 찬양곡을 제대로 한번 불러 볼 것 같다는 기대에 마음이 들뜨네요. 왕희진 성도님이 아이디어를 내셔서 찬양팀, 반주팀, 청년부, 중고등부, 어린이부, 거기에 성가대까지 힘을 합쳐 신나는 찬양을 준비했습니다. 이 찬양으로 예배를 열고, 이 찬양으로 예배를 마치려고 하는데, 부활의 기쁨이 맘껏 드러나는 찬양이 되기를 바랍니다.

오늘 아침에 교회를 오실 때 파킹장에 Happy Birthday! 라는 사인을 보시고 의아한 생각이 드신 분들이 있으시죠? 설교 시간에 설명을 드리겠지만, 생일만큼 신나는 부활절이 되기를 바라는 마음에 사인도, 그리고 맛있는 케이크까지 주문했습니다.

지난 40일간의 사순절을 은혜롭게 지내 부활절이 더욱 신나는 것 같습니다. 지난 40일간 (연인원) 1,612명이 새벽제단을 지켰습니다. 22명이 하루도 빠지지 않고 사순절 새벽 제단을 지켜 냈으며, 30일 이상 참석한 분이 34명, 그리고 EM에서도 8명이 한번이상 새벽 기도회에 참석하는 열심을 보여 주셨습니다. 이번 사순절에는 “천로역정” 책을 함께 읽어가며 우리의 신앙 여정을 돌아볼 수 있는 좋은 기회가 되었는데, 이 자리를 빌어 기도와 낭독 순서를 맡아 주셨던 65명의 성도님들께 감사를 드립니다.

4천번제 캠페인에 열심히 참여해 주신 여러분께 또한 깊은 감사를 드립니다. 지난 주까지 총 4,955번제를 올려 드렸습니다. 할렐루야! 특별히 가장 많은 번제를 올린 희락속 (967), 은혜속 (926), 그리고 축복속 (725) 여러분께 감사를 드립니다. 저도 이번에 매일 스쿼트를 70번 이상 하며 (아직 100번에 이르지는 못했지만), 페이스북에 보내는 시간을 대폭 줄이게 되어 감사하고 있습니다. 무엇보다도 어느 권사님께서 하루에 찬송을 3곡씩 부르시겠다고 하신 것에 도전을 받아서 구석에 처박아 놓았던 기타를 다시 꺼내 집에서 찬양하는 시간을 갖게 되었는데, 찬양의 기쁨과 능력을 다시금 회복하게 되어서 너무 감사하고 있습니다.

어제는 하늘이 맑아진다는 “청명” 이었습니다. 봄농사를 시작한다는 이 계절에 사순절에 뿌린 믿음의 씨앗들이 튼튼히 자라 풍성한 열매 맺는 이 한 해가 되기를 축복하며 부활절 감사와 인사를 대신합니다. Happy Easter!

Hallelujah! It is Easter! I pray that the grace of our risen Lord Jesus Christ may abound in your lives.

I love being a Christian. I think it is because I have received so many blessings through my faith. Above all, living with faith in Jesus fills me with joy and gratitude. Of course, there are many difficult and challenging moments, but when I realize that none of them are meaningless - that all are within God’s providence and grace - I find a deep joy in living. I am also thankful that, through faith in Jesus, I am able to live even a small measure of a good and righteous life. Honestly, if I had not believed in Jesus, given my temperament, I might have lived cursing or lamenting the world, perhaps numbing myself in drink and even dying at a young age. I believe it was the prayers of my grandparents that led me onto a good path. Because of that, I often think that when I go to heaven, the first people I will seek out are my grandparents, to whom I will bow deeply in gratitude.

With thanksgiving for the life God has allowed us to live thus far, and for the promise of heaven that lies ahead, we welcome Easter Sunday in 2026.

This Easter, I am especially excited that we will be singing the praise song “Every Praise”—a song we have sung during past seasons—this time in a more unified and joyful way. Through the idea of Heejin Spears, our praise team, instrumentalists, Young Adults Group, Youth Group, Children’s Ministry, and even the choir have all come together to prepare this vibrant offering of praise. We plan to open and close the service with this song, and I pray that it will be a powerful expression of Easter joy. Some of you may have noticed the “Happy Birthday!” sign in the parking lot this morning and wondered about it. I will explain more during the sermon, but it is in part our hope that Easter would feel as joyful and celebratory as a birthday. That is why we also prepared a delicious cake for you to enjoy.

Moreover, having walked through the past 40 days of Lent with such a powerful grace, Easter feels all the more joyful. During this time, a cumulative total of 1,612 people participated in the early morning prayer gatherings. Twenty-two individuals (including 3 from EM) did not miss a single day, 34 attended more than 30 days, and from EM, eight people joined at least one day! Reading The Pilgrim’s Progress together during this Lenten season gave us a meaningful opportunity to reflect on our journey of faith. I would also like to thank the 65 members who led prayers and served as readers.

I also want to extend my deep appreciation to everyone who participated in the “4,000 Offerings of Life” campaign. As of last week, we offered a total of 4,955 offerings. Hallelujah! Special thanks to the Joy Group (967), Grace Group (926), and Blessing Group (725) for their outstanding participation. And thank you, EM, for the awesome 335 offerings! As for me, I am doing at least 70 squats each day (though I have not yet reached 100!), and I am thankful that I have significantly reduced the time I spend on Facebook. Most of all, as I was inspired and challenged, by an Exhorter who committed to singing three hymns each day, to take up the guitar that had been sitting in the corner, to begin praising at home. Through this, I have rediscovered the joy and power of praise, for which I am deeply grateful.

Yesterday marked Chung-Myung, a day known for clear skies and the beginning of the spring planting season. I pray that the seeds of faith we have planted during Lent will grow strong and bear abundant fruit throughout this year. Happy Easter!
